Cookies Policy

What cookies moneta uses, and why.

moneta uses a small set of cookies to keep the application working and to understand how people use our website. We do not use advertising cookies or sell personal data.

Last updated 2026-05-19 Applies to all regions

1. What is a cookie

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. Cookies let sites remember preferences and recognize returning visitors. Some cookies expire when you close your browser ("session cookies"); others persist for longer ("persistent cookies"). We also use similar technologies like local storage, which we'll refer to as "cookies" throughout for simplicity.

2. Categories we use

We group cookies into four categories:

  • Strictly necessary. Required for the Service to function — authentication, security, load balancing. These cannot be disabled.
  • Functional. Remember settings and preferences (e.g., dark mode, locale).
  • Analytics. Help us understand which features get used and where people get stuck. Anonymized.
  • Marketing. We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies on the moneta application. Our marketing site may set first-party analytics cookies only.

3. Specific cookies

The current set of cookies is:

Name Category Purpose Lifetime
mnt_sessionNecessaryAuthenticationSession
mnt_csrfNecessaryCSRF protectionSession
mnt_prefsFunctionalUI preferences1 year
_pa_idAnalyticsAnonymous usage analytics (Plausible)13 months
_pa_sesAnalyticsSession correlation (Plausible)30 minutes

This list is current as of the "last updated" date above and is reviewed quarterly.

4. Third-party cookies

Our marketing site loads YouTube embeds and Google Fonts. YouTube may set cookies once you play a video. Google Fonts is served from Google CDN; while it sets no cookies, your IP is briefly available to Google. We do not set advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site trackers.

5. How to manage cookies

You can:

  • Adjust your browser settings to block or delete cookies.
  • Use the cookie banner on first visit to decline non-essential cookies (analytics).
  • Use private/incognito browsing.

Blocking necessary cookies may break the application — for example, you may not be able to stay logged in.

6. Do Not Track

moneta honors the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. We treat a GPC signal as an opt-out of analytics cookies. We do not honor the legacy "Do Not Track" header because of inconsistent implementation across browsers.
